Evangelism Training at Church - Week 5

Tonight was week 5...we watched "Ice Breakers" (Gospel Tracts) from the Way of the Master, and discussed it. We had 87 people in class tonight. They thought using gospel tracts were a good idea...especially using good ones. Probably more than half said they have passed out tracts at one point or the other. Jeanne, from the class that went out with us witnessing last Saturday, got up and talked to everyone. She said that it was not scary like she thought it would be, and that most people didn't get offended at all. I was hoping with her saying this that it would draw more out into hitting the streets with us, and not to be so worried about it.

We discussed some witnessing stories we had the other day while out witnessing, as well as others I had in OKC. They liked hearing about those. We showed various Living Waters tracts. We were also selling them at our WOTM table. The church bought them up and we're doing the repackaging and selling. We purchased a bunch, and now they are about gone!

About 10 people said they were planning on going out with us this upcoming Saturday to witness in historic downtown Branson. We are having a person or two that uses this "Way of the Master" method of evangelism come down to go out with us Saturday. That will ensure that everyone is trained properly.

After we went witnessing last Saturday, Leann and I went to the police station and asked if there were any special laws we needed to know about before taking our church group out to witness. They said it was soliciting and we needed a permit. I politely told them it wasn't soliciting and we have the right to pass out gospel literature and share our faith on the public streets and sidewalks. They told us to go to City Hall.

Leann called the City of Branson. She informed them of our rights as Christians. The lady said she'd have to make some calls to see if we were right. Another lady called Leann back and said we were free to go witness, that we didn't need a permit. Just not to block entrances to stores, don't block the sidewalks, etc. So we will meet up Saturday and hit the streets. I will let you know how it goes.
